Weekend Preview – Premier League 2015-16 – Week 1

The start of the Premier League season is just over a week away and the excitement is building.

Its shaping up to be a great season with some big signings coming in for all teams. Here is our forecast for the opening week. Result prediction down the middle. “B” is Banker Bet, “BTTS” is Both Teams to Score

Premier League Forecast

Manchester City showed they mean business, splashing out £49m for Raheem Sterling, we think that’s great business and will add a new dimension to City’s attack.  City should have too much for West Bromwich Albion, and they are our only away day Banker bet of the opening weekend.  CITY WIN

Manchester United have also been very busy, bring in a number of players, Bastian Schweinsteiger being the marque signing so far, although rumours are rife that United want to add a “Galatico”.  United look good pre-season and will be too strong for Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.  UNITED WIN

Arsenal’s signing of Peter Cech is the signing of the summer for us.  Cech will bring a massive presence to Arsenal’s back line, and the points saving he could bring could really propel Arsenal into contenders.  West Ham’s season began a few weeks ago on the Europa league quest, and the look weary already.  ARSENAL WIN

The defending champions Chelsea, start the campaign at home to Swansea, despite being relatively quiet on the transfer front we can’t see Chelsea slipping up here.  CHELSEA WIN.

Liverpool have spent big again, looking to get back in the top 4, and a campaign free from European football could allow that.  Despite all those signings, there’s still a big question mark over Brendan Rogers, and with a very tough opening to their Premier League campaign, especially on the road, could see him under severe pressure.  They start the season on the road at Stoke City, who hammered them 6-1 last time of asking.  Liverpool will be up for revenge, but we feel Mark Hughes’ Stoke will have too much for them as Liverpool try to get all the signings to click.  STOKE WIN

Exciting time for Bournemouth, their first ever Premier League game, they play a fast, slick passing game which we feel will stand them in good stead.  They face Aston Villa on the opening day, without Christian Benteke. A great start for the new boys.  BOURNEMOUTH WIN.

Watford’s first game back in the top flight is a tough one, away at Everton.  Everton started poorly last season with the distraction of the Europa League, but looked more like the side we know towards the end of the season.  If they hold on to Stone’s, then we think they’ll be too strong.  EVERTON WIN

Steve McLaren’s first game in charge of Newcastle United is at home to Southampton, a tough test.  Southampton have performed well above the level the last couple of seasons, and Newcastle have been a mess.  McLaren is a good coach, and they have started splashing the cash this week.  This one has goals in it. DRAW

Leicester City had a sensational finish to the season, then a crazy summer, sacking their manager and replacing him with the “Tinker Man”. Sunderland survived, just.  a tight affair this one.  DRAW.

Norwich City open their season against Pardew’s Crystal Palace, Norwich will learn from their last visit to the Premier League and be a tougher nut to crack.  DRAW
